The Metis Settlements General Council is the central governance and political body of the eight Metis Settlements of Alberta.
MSGC is comprised of the elected councils who govern the eight Metis Settlements. The MSGC Assembly includes the 40 councillors, as well as the four executive officers who are elected to their positions by the 40 councillors. The Executive oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and support the Assembly and Board of Directors (the eight Settlement chairpeople) in making governance decisions on behalf of the communities.
Local Settlement elections are held every four years. Executive officers are elected to three-year terms. MSGC passes Policies that have the force and effect of provincial legislation.
